Fanuc S-420 Robot
Basic Description
The S-420 is a six-axis articulated arm robot with a 120kg (264 lbs) payload and a 2413 mm (95”) reach. The S-420 has a 300° base rotation and can manipulate 120kg (264 lbs) payloads with a 2731 mm (107.5”) vertical travel. It has a repeatability of ±0.5mm (±002”) at maximum speed and extension. The robots mechanical unit weighs approximately 1600kg (3520 lbs). All six axis motions are controlled simultaneously by electric servos. It has absolute encoder positioning and breakes on all axes. Axes 1, 2, and 3 of the S-420 are driven by AC servo motors through RV reducers. The motors are directly connected to the reducer and the driving force for the axis is supplied directly from the output of the RV drive. This direct connection of the RV drive allows for fewer drive train members, more rigidity and smoother motion. Servo motors offer precision positioning and no brush maintenance. Arm joints are anti-friction bearing mounted. The robot uses sealed for life bearings on all critical rotating elements and has grease fittings provided for all lubricated components.
